Candice Gidney practices in the areas of corporate, advertising and marketing, entertainment and media law with a focus on business counseling. She frequently advises the boards of directors and senior leadership teams of public and private companies regarding business and general corporate matters. Ms. Gidney also has experience in the area of intellectual property law.

Currently, as Lead Counsel to one of the world’s most recognizable quick service restaurant brands, Ms. Gidney manages all phases of legal work in marketing, advertising and promotions for our client's global brand. Ms. Gidney manages all budgets and litigation arising from areas of responsibility. She is responsible for managing the worldwide trademark and other intellectual property portfolios of these brands, including all phases of trademark clearance, use, prosecution, maintenance and enforcement. Further, she drafts and negotiates various marketing, public relations and promotions-related agreements and communications, including master agency agreements, trademark licenses, promotion and sponsorship agreements, media buying agreements, professional services agreements and vendor agreements. Ms. Gidney supports the start-up of a toy program, including the risk analysis of the program, negotiating and drafting various manufacturing, licensing, quality assurance agreements and participating in product testing. Ms. Gidney also counsels on the collection, use and disclosure of consumer data for compliance with law, as well as industry standards and guidelines related to privacy and data security (e.g., GDPR, CAN-SPAM Act, TCPA).

Ms. Gidney has over a decade of experience in entertainment law having worked in house for industry-leading high profile film and television production and distribution companies and record labels. She formerly served as Director of Business and Legal Affairs for The Weinstein Company and as legal counsel for Sony Music Entertainment, Inc., Sony Pictures TV and Warner Brothers counseling in all aspects of domestic and international distribution and licensing, acquisitions and sales, co-production, talent, artist, label and consulting arrangements.
